After three sold out screenings of The Defector: Escape from North Korea, our Canadian premiere at Hot Docs has come to a close. We would like to thank everyone that came out, all those in the line-ups spanning around the block, and in the packed audiences. The amazing reception has made this our most successful premiere yet!
We had lots of outstanding press from The CBC, CTV News Canada, Global News, The Toronto Star, and Random House as well as some great response from blogs such as Film Army, Exclaim!, and Next Projection. Plus POV Magazine published a piece by Ann Shin about her journey alongside the defectors on their way to freedom.
With Hot Docs over, we are even more excited with the coming festivals, including Sheffield Documentary Festival and the Sausalito Film Festival where The Defector is the closing screening!
We are excited to announce that The Defector Interactive has been nominated for a Rockie Award at The Banff World Media Festival. Props to our collaborators, Jam3 Inc and Psyop.
